Under Eye Rejuvenation

At Nouveau Cosmetic Center, patients often have questions about under eye rejuvenation. Dealing with dark circles or loose, sagging skin around your eyes may seem like a never-ending battle. Dark circles and puffy eyes can instantly make you look years older and more tired than you actually are. There are a number of potential causes including hereditary conditions, poor nutrition, allergies, smoking, and excessive consumption of alcohol. Fortunately, there are a variety of treatment options you can take advantage of to reduce or eliminate dark circles and puffiness from around your eyes.

Process

Rejuvenating the area around the eyes can be a challenging task. In order to achieve excellent results you must identify the problems and specifically attack those problems with a specific technique or combination of techniques. There are four main conditions that cause problems around the eyes:

Crow’s Feet

These are the fine lines that radiate from the corners of your eyes. They are dynamic wrinkles, meaning they’re most noticeable when you contract the muscles in your face, such as when you squint or smile. Many factors contribute to crow’s feet including sun exposure, squinting, smoking, and menopause, but whatever the cause, the result is sagging, wrinkled skin. The more natural pigment you have in your skin, the more you are protected from harmful ultraviolet radiation. This is why people with darker skin tend to have fewer crow’s feet than those with lighter skin.

Depending on the cause and severity of your individual condition, treatment may include Botox, Dysport, chemical peels, and laser resurfacing.

Deep Tear Troughs

This results from volume loss in the infraorbital region. This can cause a dark shadow under the eye resulting in ‘dark circles under the eyes’, and can make you look chronically tired. In order to fix this problem, the volume must be replaced. An excellent and simple remedy is facial fillers like Restylane and Juvederm.

Loose or “Crepe” Skin Around the Eyes

In order to correct this problem you must tighten the skin by adding collagen and elastin to the dermis. This can be accomplished in a couple of effective ways, such as medical grade skin care products and laser treatments like Pixel Perfect.

Dark Circles Under the Eyes

This can be from the shadowing of the deep tear troughs mentioned above or it can be from excess pigment or vascularity (small blood vessels), or even blue reticular veins. Treatment may include IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) or Pixel, or facial fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm.
